Week 3 - Hope for the Undeserving
This powerful message takes us on a journey to Calvary, where we encounter one of the most profound demonstrations of grace in all of Scripture: the thief on the cross. We're reminded that it's Friday—a day of suffering, betrayal, and apparent defeat—but Sunday is coming. The central truth we discover is that God's grace is greater than our sins, no matter how deep our failures or how broken our past. Through the story of the two criminals crucified alongside Jesus, we see that both had equal proximity to the Savior, both were guilty, both were dying—yet only one received paradise. The difference wasn't in their circumstances or their past goodness, but in their humble faith. One thief mocked Jesus, seeking only escape from his present suffering. The other recognized his own guilt, acknowledged Jesus' innocence, and made a stunning declaration of faith: 'Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.' This wasn't a man who had time to clean up his life, get baptized, or prove his transformation through good works. He had nothing to offer but brokenness and faith—and it was enough. We learn that salvation isn't a reward for the deserving; it's a gift for the repentant. The cross stands as proof that grace isn't about our timing, tithing, or effort—it's about trust in what Jesus has already done. As long as there's breath in our lungs, it's never too late to surrender to Christ.
