Week 2 - Hope for the Weary

Mar 22, 2026    Lead Pastor Mike Dorough

This powerful message takes us on a journey to the tomb of Lazarus, where we discover that what looks like divine delay is often divine design. We explore the tension between faith and weariness as Mary and Martha waited for Jesus, believing He could heal their brother but devastated when He arrived four days too late. Yet this is where we find one of Scripture's most profound truths: sometimes God allows situations to die completely so He can demonstrate resurrection power instead of mere healing. The story challenges us to examine our own waiting seasons. Are we trusting God's timing even when it doesn't make sense? The message beautifully illustrates how God works in our dark rooms, developing something far greater than we can imagine. Like film that must remain in darkness and chemicals to develop properly, our seasons of waiting and uncertainty are often where God is preparing something extraordinary. We're reminded that Jesus meets us differently based on our needs—He spoke to Martha's mind with theological truth, declaring Himself the resurrection and the life, while He wept with Mary, meeting her emotional need. This tells us that no matter how we're wired, whether we're thinkers or feelers, Jesus meets us exactly where we are in our weariness.
