Part 5 - Do You Really Know God?

Feb 15, 2026    Lead Pastor Mike Dorough

This powerful message confronts us with a question that cuts to the heart of our faith: Do we truly know God, or do we merely know about Him? Through the prophetic book of Hosea, we're presented with a stark picture of Israel's spiritual adultery—a nation that maintained all the religious rituals, attended temple services, and offered sacrifices, yet had no genuine relationship with the Lord. The parallel to modern Christianity is striking and uncomfortable. We can attend church regularly, serve faithfully, even lead ministries, yet still lack that intimate, transformative knowledge of God that changes everything. The message reveals that God isn't interested in our religious performance or our attempts to buy His favor through service and sacrifice. What He desires is surrender—our whole hearts, not just our Sunday mornings. The story of Hosea's marriage to the unfaithful Gomer becomes a beautiful, painful picture of God's relentless pursuit of us. Just as Hosea paid to redeem his wayward wife, Jesus paid the ultimate price to redeem us from the slave market of sin. This isn't about behavior modification or following religious rules; it's about a living, breathing relationship with the Creator of the universe. The distance between heaven and hell is only eighteen inches—from head knowledge to heart transformation. We're challenged to examine whether our faith is merely ritual or genuine relationship, whether we're going through the motions or truly walking with God daily.
